Trending: Metal Accents at Weisshouse

A well designed room includes many elements: multiple wood tones, splashes of color, textures and metal. Whether it's new and shiny or aged and rustic, metal plays an important part in the look and feel of a space. We recently received several vintage/unique metal items and we've highlighted a few of them below. Call our showroom for additional details or stop by.

How To ROCK Eclectic Style at Home

We aren't trying to toot our own horns or anything, but the former lovely living space of Stacy Weiss was recently selected by Houzz as one of "The Most Popular Eclectic Spaces". We were totally thrilled and honored because Houzz just happens to be one of our favorite one-stop-shops for design ideas and sources online. While eclectic IS hard to define, it's not hard to spot. It's everything that goes together and nothing that doesn't. That makes sense, right? Stacy's collage wall made the cut and we know exactly why. It's all her. It's her collection, her personality and what she loves. If you're in love with Stacy's style too, stop by and check out our showroom full of furniture, lighting, rugs, carpet (wool & synthetic) and one-of-a-kind finds and discover your own eclectic style.

Just Arrived: New Fall 2013 Vintage at Weisshouse

Our buyers just returned from fall market with a truck load of amazing vintage finds like a 6' wide apothecary cabinet, a rustic work bench that could be re-purposed as a desk or table and a set of ten adjustable height chrome stools just to name a few. We plan to feature as many of our new vintage arrivals as we possibly can in the coming weeks, but this little collection was inspired by a tour on Apartment Therapy of a couple who know how to mix rustic and eclectic pieces with a result that is a warm, inviting home for two! Check out the complete story here. Visit our website to view our entire vintage and unique collection or stop by or showroom.

Vintage Adrian Pearsall Tables Now at Weisshouse

A leader in early modern furniture design, Adrian Pearsall graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in architectural engineering in 1950. Pearsall founded Craft Associates in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania and became one of the country’s most prominent furniture designers during the mid-century “Atomic Age", the period of history following the detonation of the first atomic bomb. Often known for his daring designs which brought high-style to the masses, he is credited with the creation of long and low gondola sofas, free-form walnut and glass tables, and the popularization of the bean bag chair. You may have spotted the coffee table (above) in our current display window, but we invite you to come in and see these elegant tables up close.

One Very Cool Vintage Table, Many Ways

We just received this chrome and glass vintage table and we couldn't be more excited about it. The table base is composed of two pieces which means there are multiple ways to configure the table as seen in the photos above. The round glass top compliments the table well making it appear sculptural. Shop this and all of our unique vintage finds at our showroom or at www.weisshouse.com.

Less Space, Same Amount of Style: Pittsburgh Quarterly Interviews Stacy Weiss

Pittsburgh Quarterly magazine featured our very own Stacy Weiss in their summer 2013 issue. "Lofty Inspirations" is shown above and begins on page 32. The article details many of Stacy's prized possessions that include items like iconic furniture: a 15-year-old Charles sofa (B & B Italia) and Stacy's "curated" collection of art. The article stated that Stacy, who grew up in an art-infused home, purchased her first painting at the age of 6. While most of us weren't even able to tie our shoes yet, Stacy was beginning to develop an eye for collecting. Today, Weisshouse represents Stacy's 30 year career in the interior design/home furnishings business. Check out the summer 2013 issue on news stands now.

Late Spring Furniture Arrivals at Weisshouse

This painted wicker side table's construction is completely intact. The top and sides are stable. We assume this piece is  probably from the turn-of-the-century. The paint has a beautiful aged patina.

Originally made by American of Martinsville in the 1970s, this handsome piece lived its life as a wood chest until it was painted with high gloss auto paint at a body shop. The chest is now totally updated with a really glamorous personality! We just love the back stories and rich histories of vintage furniture.

Danish Modern design:
This Vintage Hans Wegner-inspired folding chair (wood and rattan painted wood and cane) would be great indoors or out (covered)!

We think this antique farmer's stool will add charm and rustic sophistication to any interior.

Forgive us for not writing for a few weeks. We have been incredibly busy stocking our showroom with new arrivals and new vintage items! We are so excited to share all of them with you and we will be blogging up a storm for the next few days. First, we wanted to share a few of our most unique vintage furniture finds. We hope you like them and stay tuned for a lot more...

Just Featured on Houzz: Stacy Weiss' Art Filled Loft

Stacy Weiss was just looking for a rental while trying to find something new to renovate when she stumbled upon an open space with tall ceilings and whitewashed bricks in the rapidly developing East End neighborhood of Pittsburgh. The new space allowed her to carry over everything from her previous home and arrange it all in a new, more loft-friendly way. With tall ceilings and vast, white-painted expanses, Stacy created an eclectic gallery filled with vintage and contemporary art. Her carefully chosen pieces of vintage and modern furniture play well with the art and the overall look is unique and reflective of Stacy's taste and personality that is also evident at Weisshouse. Read the complete feature compiled by Houzz contributor and photographer, Adrienne DeRosa here.

Sleek Vintage Collapsible Bar Cart

From time to time, we like to feature one very special item on our blog. This week, we wanted to highlight our Vintage Plastic and Metal Bar Cart with Wheels. A very similar collapsible bar cart was just featured and quickly sold this week on V&M (Vintage and Modern), the leading online source for unique vintage furniture, antiques, art, jewelry, fashion and design from around the world. We love V&M's take on integrating this piece into your decor: "The design can be a permanent part of your interior design concept or easily folds to be used when needed." We agree and think our it's a wonderful and very practical piece of furniture. Use it as a bar cart, a serving cart or a side table. We have 2 of them! Visit us 24 hours a day at www.weisshouse.com to shop for this bar cart and all of our unique vintage finds.
