Take Your Shoes Off and Relax

How do you encourage guests to take their shoes off when they enter your home? Place a very stylish bench, settee or sofette at your door/entry where they can sit  and do so! This week on Houzz.com, they featured some adorable benches, etc. for the very purpose of having a designated spot to remove one's shoes. You can really play this area up by staging it with an end table and lamp and a small, durable rug for wet shoes and boots. See the photos below for a few suggestions from our designers and visit Weisshouse for additional styles.

Emerald: THE Color for 2013

Pantone has recently announced that Emerald is the 2013 Color of the Year. Expect to see emerald pop up everywhere this year! Emerald will be the upcoming year's hot color in fashion and home decor. There's even an iPhone case that features Pantone 17-5641 Emerald.

"Most often associated with brilliant, precious gemstones, the perception of Emerald is sophisticated and luxurious. Since antiquity, this luminous, magnificent hue has been the color of beauty and new life in many cultures and religions. Also the color of growth, renewal and prosperity, no other color conveys regeneration more than green. For centuries, many countries have chosen green to represent healing and unity." - Pantone.com

We have already been coveting our our collection of emerald finds at Weisshouse. A few of our new favorites are pictured below. Visit www.weisshouse.com for even more!

American Industrial Designer, Russell Wright

It has been said that a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, every piece of vintage furniture is worth a thousand words too and always has an interesting past and story to tell. A new shipment of vintage furniture has just arrived at Weisshouse and each piece is incredibly unique. One piece in particular, a small side table designed by Russell Wright is the focus of this blog.

From our website (www.weisshouse.com): Russel Wright (April 3, 1904 – December 21, 1976) was an American Industrial designer during the 20th century. Beginning in the late 1920s through the 1960s, Russel Wright created a succession of artistically distinctive and commercially successful items that helped bring modern design to the general public. Wright designed a succession of popular furniture lines for many furniture companies beginning in the early 1930s through the 1950s. His most popular line of essentially Art Deco American Modern “blonde” wooden furniture was produced by the Conant-Ball company of Gardner, Massachusetts between 1935 and 1939, and bore the branded mark “American Modern Built by Conant-Ball Co. Designed by Russel Wright.”

Check out the Russell Wright table below available at Weisshouse and for even more great vintage furniture, visit our website!
