Steel City Loft Style

Pittsburgh native, Daniel Shapiro and his bright, modern loft complete with a few Weisshouse pieces were recently featured on Houzz.com. We absolutely love Daniel's take on loft living. His use of white-painted walls were an ideal back-drop for his finely curated collection of new and vintage furnishings. Daniel teamed with Pittsburgh interior designer, Karen Anderson and achieved the kind of interior that speaks to Daniel's personality and the character of the loft building itself. Massimo Vignelli's Vintage Heller Plasticware

Weisshouse recently acquired a colorful collection of vintage Heller Plasticware that was originally conceived in 1964 in Italy. Heller Plasticware was designed by Massimo Vignelli. This vibrant system of stacking dishes, bowls and mugs is in the Museum of Modern Art and the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York. This melamine dinnerware IS truly is an icon of  the 1960s with its bright colors and simple shapes.

Massimo Vignelli was born in Milan in 1931. He is a designer who has done work in a number of areas ranging from package design to house ware design to furniture design to public signage to showroom design through Vignelli Associates, which he co-founded with his wife, Lella.

Emerald: THE Color for 2013

Pantone has recently announced that Emerald is the 2013 Color of the Year. Expect to see emerald pop up everywhere this year! Emerald will be the upcoming year's hot color in fashion and home decor. There's even an iPhone case that features Pantone 17-5641 Emerald.
