LA Pride | Cisco Brothers Furniture

Weisshouse is dedicated to making sure our product lines reflect our own values: beauty, quality, and sustainability. We love to help our clients find antique rugs that will last for many lifetimes, or discover the perfect midcentury piece that has provided elegant storage for decades. When searching for modern upholstery that share these virtues, we were fortunate to partner with Cisco Brothers, a California based furniture company known for their attention to detail and their use of sustainable and organic materials.

This L.A. outfit brushed off the temptation to move production overseas to China, and has spent the last 25 years growing their business locally to build a sustainable community. Using green materials and building methods, including soy based foam and FSC certified domestic maple, their furniture is "as healthy for you as it is for the planet." Luckily for us, it's also pretty easy on the eyes! Read on to see why we're stuck on Cisco.

Fabulous Fabrics

During our recent trip to High Point market, we were excited to explore the new line of textiles launched by Cisco Brothers. Their collection of globally inspired textiles, designed by Creative Director Maurishka Pinedo, boast rich indigo hues and patterns inspired by world travels.

The vignettes Cisco created using these fabrics are rich and layered, marrying stylish frames with subdued  patterns to deliver a lush bohemian look. A selection of one of a kind pieces bring new life to vintage kilim rugs and make for incredible benches and chairs.

Smart Styling

Much like our own crew of designers, Maurishka Pinedo describes her showroom styling as "not very technical in the way that we design our space." Their High Point haven was sprinkled with reclaimed wood and incredible vintage accents. These details add warmth and history that you just won't find in mass-produced accessories.

Cisco Brothers instills true craftsmanship in every piece of furniture, and Weisshouse is eager to share the fruits of their labor to our Pittsburgh community. From one family-run business to another, visit Weisshouse to experience the art of these West Coast wonders.

Made In The Good Ol' USA

There are always new trends popping up every year at Market. Green is here to stay. Menswear inspired fabrics are hot. This year, one trend was very popular: Made In The USA. According to Weisshouse designer and Market attendee, "That really seems to be taking shape as a new underlying theme, stressing quality...quick delivery...ease of doing business, etc." Interior Designer and best selling author, Lori Dennis (www.loridennis.com) blogged, "Thirty years of sending our manufacturing overseas has culminated in jobs lost forever and a nation left wondering where it all went wrong. Consequently the “Made In America” label has a brand new cache. People are finding strength in returning to American values and traditions, whether its comfort food , an old pair of Levi’s or the design of their homes. At Sotheby’s and Christie’s for example, American antique furniture and objects of art recently sold for record high prices."

At Weisshouse, we have seen an ever growing interest and desire to buy American-made vintage furniture. Premium plywood, solid wood, dovetail joints, corner blocking and other hallmarks of high quality, well-built furniture are being sought after by today's consumers. For more high quality, American-made vintage furniture, visit www.weisshouse.com or stop in our showroom and check out our amazing selection of Americana furniture, lighting and accessories.
