LA Pride | Cisco Brothers Furniture

Weisshouse is dedicated to making sure our product lines reflect our own values: beauty, quality, and sustainability. We love to help our clients find antique rugs that will last for many lifetimes, or discover the perfect midcentury piece that has provided elegant storage for decades. When searching for modern upholstery that share these virtues, we were fortunate to partner with Cisco Brothers, a California based furniture company known for their attention to detail and their use of sustainable and organic materials.

This L.A. outfit brushed off the temptation to move production overseas to China, and has spent the last 25 years growing their business locally to build a sustainable community. Using green materials and building methods, including soy based foam and FSC certified domestic maple, their furniture is "as healthy for you as it is for the planet." Luckily for us, it's also pretty easy on the eyes! Read on to see why we're stuck on Cisco.

Fabulous Fabrics

During our recent trip to High Point market, we were excited to explore the new line of textiles launched by Cisco Brothers. Their collection of globally inspired textiles, designed by Creative Director Maurishka Pinedo, boast rich indigo hues and patterns inspired by world travels.

The vignettes Cisco created using these fabrics are rich and layered, marrying stylish frames with subdued  patterns to deliver a lush bohemian look. A selection of one of a kind pieces bring new life to vintage kilim rugs and make for incredible benches and chairs.

Smart Styling

Much like our own crew of designers, Maurishka Pinedo describes her showroom styling as "not very technical in the way that we design our space." Their High Point haven was sprinkled with reclaimed wood and incredible vintage accents. These details add warmth and history that you just won't find in mass-produced accessories.

Cisco Brothers instills true craftsmanship in every piece of furniture, and Weisshouse is eager to share the fruits of their labor to our Pittsburgh community. From one family-run business to another, visit Weisshouse to experience the art of these West Coast wonders.

Gushing over Gus*Modern • Days left to Save!

If you haven’t had a chance to shop the Gus*Modern Summer Sale, now is your time to dive in. Until August 15th, Weisshouse is taking 20% off of an array of modern pieces ranging from sectionals to accent chairs.

What is there to love about Gus? This design powerhouse gives a fresh take on mid-century design with a well rounded portfolio of clean lined sofas and unique accent pieces. While we’re die hard fans of vintage finds, we applaud Gus' ability to take the Mad Men aesthetic into the 21st century with crisp tailoring and unexpected color combinations.

The Carmichael Sofa and Chair takes mid century sensibilities, with its slightly tapered legs and clean lines, and adds an modern flair with it's unexpected angles and striking color options. If you're feeling bold, opt for a sunny Citrine upholstery.

The Truss Chair nestles nicely into traditional and modern settings. Its natural ash base boasts an ultramodern, architectural design while recalling the Danish lounge chairs of the 60s.

Bedroom in need of an upgrade? The Gus*Modern Summer Sale also offers discounts on a handful of sleek beds. If you're struggling to settle on a headboard, the Switch Bed has a reversible headboard so you can achieve a subtle change on a whim.

A Mix of the Past and Present

We are often featuring what's hot in the world of vintage finds here on the Weisshouse blog. Vintage pieces from the Mid Century Modern era are very, very popular right now and Weisshouse is certainly a valuable resource for finding them. It's true that everything old becomes new again. In addition to genuine vintage furniture, many manufacturers are recreating the past and reinterpreting vintage looking furniture in new ways. Mixing vintage and new "vintage" styles is now easier than ever. Bold, modern fabric prints and bright lacquer finishes on throwback chairs, sofas and tables are popping up in stores and online. Vintage credenzas from the 50s and 60s look fresh with a coat of bright paint. Vintage lamps are new when rewired and outfitted with a sophisticated lampshade in linen, silk or even burlap. Stop by the Weisshouse showroom at 324 S.Highland Avenue in Shadyside or visit our website (www.weisshouse.com) for even more design ideas and inspiration. Check out the photos below for a few of our vintage and new "vintage" favorites.
