Serene Style • Weisshouse Bedrooms

The average person spends 1/3 of their life sleeping, making the bedroom an incredibly important space to focus on when designing your home. We're looking back on some past work from the Weissguys and sharing a few of our favorite tips for adding serenity to your space.

1. Let your personal style define your color scheme.
Whether you're more comfortable in airy neutrals or prefer to ground your space in deep hues, choose a color palette that you find soothing.

Above: Creamy neutrals compliment the natural hues of the floor and play off the lush greenery of the patio. A white base provides a great canvas to display a collection of portraits and emphasize the lofty ceilings.

Below: Rich blacks can bring coziness to a space. This monochrome bedroom shows the importance of mixing textures and the benefits of using a screen to break up a space without feeling too heavy.

2. Use textiles to transform your space on a whim.

Whether you're in a rental or prefer to keep your walls neutral, adding textiles can help to give your space a bold personality that reflects your style. Pillows, throws, and rugs can all be swapped out from season to season or as you're own style evolves.

Don't be afraid to display artwork and collections in unconventional ways! Leaning artwork along a wall is another way to add your own touch without damaging walls if you have a security deposit looming overhead.

3. Let function guide your decor.

Consider what activities are most important to you and how your daily routine may influence your decor. Loving jumping into work first thing in the morning? Add a work station that suits your working style. If you prefer to leave paperwork out of the bedroom, a small seating group can provide a restful place to enjoy your morning coffee while catching up on a good book.

Paul Frankl: American Modernist

"Paul T. Frankl (1886–1958), an Art Deco furniture designer and maker, architect, painter and writer from Vienna, Austria, was the son of a wealthy real estate speculator. After Frankl completed his architectural studies at the Berlin Polytechnic, he traveled, spending time in Berlin and Copenhagen before arriving in the United States in April 1914. He settled in New York City and brought with him an outsider’s fresh perspective and an enthusiasm for forging a uniquely American design aesthetic. Frankl began as an architect and later switched to designing and painting fine art and furniture. In the years between the two world wars he, more than any other designer, helped shape the distinctive look of American modernism". - Wikipedia

Weisshouse proudly welcomes Paul Frankl by way of two oh-so glamorous rattan and teak side tables with a matching 5 drawer low chest. These pieces will turn any bedroom or living room into a 1930s or 1940s glamorous Hollywood film set. See these incredible pieces for yourself at our showroom on Highland Avenue this Memorial Day Weekend!
